Level 3 Communications, Inc. is an international communications and information services company. They operate one of the world’s largest Internet backbones. The Internet backbone is where Internet Service Providers (ISPs) connect so that they can offer the World Wide Web to their local customers.

The company has a service called (3)VoIP that is starting to take off. The service is used to terminate calls through the Internet to over 300 markets covering 80 percent of the U.S. population.

Level 3 has just won a couple contracts and an award for their (3)VoIP service. The company’s services are beginning to heat up as communication companies start offering a complete data service including voice, video on demand, and the Internet.

Q2 earnings are due out on July 28th.
